Instructions for Christmas stocking:  (click on underlined items below)

Now with the holidays behind us, let’s look ahead for a much better 2022! Thank you for all your wonderful donations you have given to Charity! The organizations we support have been so grateful for all we do.
On January 20, Charity will be meeting in person at the church. We will be there from 9 - 11:30,
sorting and making quilt and tote kits. We will also be discussing a new project that some of you may like to make. Stay tuned as I plan on introducing this at our general meeting for February along with a couple of samples. Anyone wishing to join us or drop off any donation is welcome!! See you in January….. Janell Duncan, Charity Chairperson
December 2021 - Thank you for all the donations that have been brought in throughout the year! We could use some  twin sized quilts or quilt tops which would be given to Hands of a Friend. Our other charities are  Project Linus, St. Andrew’s Children’s clinic, Veterans, and our once-a-year donation to Valley  Assistance. Those sizes can vary from 36x36 to 50x60.

My husband, George volunteered to transport all the donations from members to Window Rock, Az.

I weighed all donations & close to 300 lbs. of fabric.

Thank you & they are so excited to receive these donations!! Jane Akob

July Program - Christmas in July
Friday, July 16, 2021, in person!!!

Picture
I’m not sure about anyone else, but I sure enjoyed our “Christmas in July” sew day. It was so nice to actually see everyone in person, hearing the buzz of sewing machines, and the laughter and voices.
We had 27 people that either stopped in, some with donations, or did some sewing, cutting, ironing, or assembly.
I went to the storage unit today and did an official count. With what we had in storage and the stockings made on sew day, we have a total of 779. GREAT JOB EVERYONE! We will have enough stockings to support Valley Assistance again this year!
It would be fabulous though if we could get some more stockings for a nice little stash for next year. So if you are not “stocked-out”, give me a call and I will put out kits for you (quilt and tote kits available also). Thank you again for your great job!                        Janell Duncan, Charity Chairperson

What are we sewing now?
Whatever the community needs. . .

Here's a Note from our Charity Chair: Janelle Duncan.

Sewing and giving donations to our community is an important part of our Guild.

  • Pillow Tote with Handles

From May 2020- December 2020, we donated:
  •  Diamond Children Hospital....... 32 quilts and some surgical caps
  • Hands of a Friend........32 quilts, 20 totes, and 50 Christmas stockings
  • Project Linus........... 25 quilts
  • St. Andrews Clinic........30 quilts, 6 receiving blankets, 80 totes, and 200 Christmas stockings
  • Valley Assistance........ 700 Christmas stockings

Our Charity Bee has been keeping active with sewing donations even in this unpredictable time. These donations are given to Hands of a Friend, Valley Assistance, the Veterans, and St. Andrews Clinic.
Now with the virus, we are finding out that giving the donations to the organizations are in somewhat wait and see mode. But we are still sewing and giving to whom we can.

Two of the more popular items to sew are twin to lap size quilts and totes with handles. These are available in kits or you can ask for a pattern to work on your own. We also have kits for making surgical caps and walker bags.

At this time we are not meeting as a group, but kits are available for pick up at 1242 N. Paseo de Golf in Green Valley. Donations may also be dropped off there.

The quilt galleries (below) show some of the donated quilts we've made recently.
