We now have a vibrant facebook private group!  Cindy Cutsforth created the group called Valley Quilters Guild - Green Valley, AZ and it now has 60+ members who are sharing ideas, news, and quilt pictures.
To join, go to Groups in Facebook and search for Valley Quilters.  Click on Request to Join and Cindy will let you in.
This is another way of keeping in touch during this trying time. Maybe you can add a picture of a project or two that you’ve been working on.

Active Bees
Mod Squad - Modern and Art quilting - 4th Monday at 10am

The Mod Squad Bee - Modern and Art Quilting group is all about learning from each other in a supportive environment. It's a chance to expand your knowledge of modern quilting techniques by creating a small challenge project every two months, and to create blocks that are pulled magically together in charity quilts.

Block of the Month Bee

Picture
We’d like to invite you to join our Block of the Month Bee.  We started in November of 2020 but you can begin participating  anytime.  You must be a member of our guild to participate in our Bees.
Click on this LINK  for the Members' Only Block of the Month Page. (Check your membership card for the password to our Members' Only pages.)

During this unusual time we are not going to be able to get together personally so with the help of our webmaster, Karen Rainford’s, we will have virtual help sessions once a month with a show and tell once a month for those of you in the Bee.  Our plan is to meet via Zoom on the 4th Thursday of the month at 4pm.

Together we will create 12 different 12 ½” by 12 ½” blocks using your own colors.  Each block is designed to review a different sewing technique or teach a new concept that will help improve your quilt making.  By doing only one 12 ½” pattern each month,  I hope everyone who wants to join us can find the time to make one or more of our squares each month.
You can make the 12 blocks into a lap quilt at the end of the year or by making additional squares using different placements or chose of fabric, you can expand it into a queen or even king size quilt. I suggest you get 6 different coordinated fabrics.  Can you say trip to your favorite quilt shop?  Or find them in your stash.  You will want 3 yards or more of a basic fabric or a total of 3 yards in two different coordinated fabric.  Get ½ yard to one yard of 4 to 6 other matching colors with a couple of them being solid colored fabrics.  You will want to think about light, dark and medium tones.   If you want to make a larger quilt, be sure to get more of each fabrics.  With different placement or chose of the fabric, each block can be used several places in your quilt.  You can also make each block out of your scraps for a scrappy quilt. You do not need coordinated thread for the construction of the squares.  Most of us use a light tone of tan, grey, brown or cream. You are also free to make the blocks without the group but please post them on the webpage.

If you’d like to join our Bee, please contact:  Peg Hadley, text 541-944-8245, or hioaks@yahoo.com.  If you're not currently a member of our guild, our dues are only $25.00 per year.  Peg can help you get signed up if you would like to join our guild.
